MNP ArtCenter was successfully opened on 28 March (Sunday). It was indeed a bold milestone for MNP after 16 years of journey as the ArtCenter is one of its kind in Malaysia. It took us months to set up the entire structure before it was planned for the official opening.
Thanks to Quill City Mall for offering us a 2,400 square feet iconic venue and has also provided tremendous support to make our ambitious ArtCenter come true. It was a fantastic Sunday morning with our amazing team to grace the arrival of the invited guests and VIPs. It should have been more participation if not because of the Covid19 restriction.
The MNP ArtCenter was officiated by Mr Justin Liew, the Senior Vice President and the representative of Quill Group of Company’s Managing Director, Dato’ Michael Ong. We were also privileged to have Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board Director, Tuan Syed Yahya Syed Othman to witness the grand opening.
The highlight of the opening was a specially-featured Charity Auction that was meant to complement the event and raise fund toward Rotary International District 3300 Natural Disaster and Emergency Relief Fund, to help the victims of natural and other disasters that occur in Malaysia.
There were three (3) valuable items comprising of a fine Australian wine, a unique Straits Chinese antique and an exquisite knife-strokes oil painting. The auction was actively bid by the invited guests and the VIPs, the total hammered prices had hit RM5,100, from the total starting prices of RM900! Our sincere thanks to the three (3) VIP winners for supporting the community in need.
The VIP Speaker Mr Ch’ng Huck Theng, the President of Penang Art Society and Penang Antique Collectors Association had shared the incredible insight about “Collecting Chinese Antique in Malaysia”, during our LiveShare’s special edition in complementing the grand opening.
The entire event would not have been made possible without the generous sponsors namely Pinang Peranakan Mansion, Colossal Media, Shoon Fatt Biscuit & Confectionary, 3nity Wine, CHTNetwork, Sungai Rusa Art Gallery and Quill Retail Group. We sincerely thank for their strong support to make our grand opening a successful one.
MNP ArtCenter is created in pursuit of our passion to promote art and culture. It is serves as a Center of knowledge learning and exchange through our auction event’s preview, exhibition, talk and seminar. Currently we are showcasing the important calligraphies of our upcoming Nanyang Pioneering Calligraphers’ auction on 18 April (Sunday) and the fine pieces of Late Qing Famille Rose – Fine Nyonyaware Collection that will be auctioned on 24 April (Saturday). We are pleased to invite the members of public to visit our ArtCenter in previewing these important collections.
